Le Royal Monceau Raffles, Paris

by Jo Austin | April 2016

"Parisian elegance at its very best, with all the glamour and prestige of the city combined with a sense tranquillity once inside its doors. Fabulous location just a short walk from the shops and the sights, and a special place for those in search of grand luxury."

THE BACKGROUND: The European flagship of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Le Royal Monceau was entirely transformed in 2010 by the French designer, Philippe Starck to become a truly iconic property.

THE LOCATION: Between the Champs Elysées and rue du Faubourg Saint- Honoré, the hotel is ideally located in the elegant heart of Paris, just a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe.

THE ROOM: My stylish room was infused with art and colour. Massive mirrors, oversized lampshades, a walk-in wardrobe and a wall-to-wall stainless steel bathroom gave the room a sense of space and individuality. For those inclined, an acoustic guitar stood in the corner beside a functional desk with free wifi connection.

FACILITIES: The luxurious property has a gracious reception hall and eager staff who go out of their way to help in every way. The Spa My Blend by Clarins is a haven of peace and features a 23 metre infinity pool and fitness centre. Le Petit Royal is a fun-filled programme for young guests. A quiet, treed courtyard offers respite from the city and for those on business there is a range of meeting and function rooms.

RESTAURANTS/BARS: Guests are spoilt for choice. Il Carpaccio is a Michelin star Italian restaurant, and just opened is Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s first restaurant in Paris serving up the very finest of Japanese delicacies. Contemporary French food is served in La Cuisine.

THE RATES: Leads in at €1,400 a night for an executive room.
